Gymnastics is a wonderful sport for kids and can help them develop co-ordination, strength, balance, flexibility and so much more.  It can also build self-esteem and improve skills such as self-discipline and concentration.

MINI BUNNIES      

Toddler & Parent Class                3 to 4.5 years old

 

Class Description

This class is designed to have the toddler lead and explore along with the parent participating in order to enhance the creative movement experience.  The session consists of Warm Up, Dynamic Stretching, Skills Activity and cool down.

 

Skills

  • Walks and runs - right, left, walk and turn
  • Gallop, Skip
  • Bounce on two feet, bounce on one foot
  • Sideways Roll
  • Crawling - cat, camel (donkey) walk
  • Forward roll - down the ramp (elevated mat)

 

Jumps:  Straight Pencil, frog jump

Body Shapes: Ta-Da, Pike, Rest, Freeze

Strength Exercises: Freeze (squat hold), Straight legs hold (on the floor), sit in straddle in good posture, cat position - single arm lift and hold.

LEVEL 1    

4.5 to 6 years old

Permission/Assessment for entry to this class

The child must be familiar with all the moves from our Mini Bunnies program

  • Forward roll
  • Straddle forward roll
  • 3/4 handstand step down to lunge (single leg lift)
  • Single leg lift forward roll
  • Backward roll
  • Backward straddle roll
  • Bridge, Bridge hold for 5 seconds
  • Candlestick, Candlestick tuck roll pencil jump

Jumps:  Straight, Straddle

Body Shapes: NEW: Straddle, V-sit, Lunge, Candlestick, Walking Steps, Forward Passe Balance, Forward Chasse

Strength Exercises: Straddle press, 5 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, 8 burpees

LEVEL 2    

Juniors       7 to 9 years

Permission/Assessment for entry to this class

The child must be familiar with all the moves listed in the Level 1 Program

 

Skills

  • Dive forward roll
  • Handstand hold - 3 seconds
  • Bridge single leg hold 8 seconds (on each leg)
  • Back-bend and stand up
  • Backward roll to pike
  • Headstand, Headstand forward roll
  • Cartwheel - both arms
  • Handstand roll
  • Back-bend kick-over

Jumps:  Straight, Straddle, tuck

Body Shapes: NEW: Bridge, Arabesque, Split jump, Straight leg leap

Strength Exercises Supplementary Skills: Box split without support, good leg full front split, straddle sit - upper body on floor.  15 push-ups, 15 sit-ups, 12 burpees, 30 second plank hold

LEVEL 3    

Juniors       9 to 12 years

Permission/Assessment for entry to this class

Girls & Boys must be familiar with all the moves listed in the Level 2 Program

  • Handstand pirouette
  • Straddle press handstand
  • Front walkover

Body Shapes: NEW: Forward Chasse, Straight leg leap, Leg swine in releve

 

Strength Exercises Supplementary Skills: Box split without support, both leg full front splits, straddles sit - upper body on floor.  15 push-ups, 20 sit-ups, 15 burpees, 45 second plank hold
